Booklet
This is my final project for Cgia.
This booklet is a selection of work completed during my second year at Emily Carr. The cover is an altered version of my logo.
Ecological Perspectives Video.
I can’t believe I need 10,000 hits!
Here is my video for Ecological Perspectives. I’m afraid it’s not very funny, but at least you can get money from it.
It took forever to animate and I had to chop it down to 1:30 seconds.
Not bad for never having done any animation or video work before. I’m satisfied.
Interface Design
These are the interface designs for design core studio.
The device is a leaf shaped GPS tracker/mapping system for the elderly.

Too much to talk about and no energy to type it all out.
Once again the colours are off. Argh!
Drowning in plastic.

So I have no idea why the colours of my poster look like this. These are not the original colours if you guys recall. Everytime I upload this as a jpg or pdf it changes the colours. I’ve tried different resolutions and sizes and nothing works.
Why is wordpress doing this to my files? Help!
————————-
This is a poster educating the public on littered plastic and where it ends up.
The idea basically started with the fish and then I decided I wanted to have an red and aqua/seafoam colour scheme for the poster. I didn’t want it to be too colourful and distracting. Simple shapes, 2 colours, little text.
The layers/levels or bottles are meant to look like water when viewed as a mass. Each bottle has 3 layers. I wanted to make it seem like a each bottle was a wave. I don’t think that idea really came through, but it created an interesting effect though. I played with the transparency and opacity to give it an eerie blurry underwater feel and had the fish slipping in and out of the water/bottles as if they were struggling in the big heaping mass of litter.

Added some text from the Canadian Shoreline Cleanup crew from the Vancouver Aquarium so people knwo how they can help stop this problem.
The logo is made up. I’m sure they won’t be using anytime soon.
Wrap it. Don’t Crap it.
Here is my hidden story for Ecological perspectives based on the environmental chewing gum threat!

Not totally satisfied with the amount of information I have on the page, but it’s done now. It’s also cropped a bit weird on the top, but I could not figure a way out of it.
Reading break can’t come soon enough!
Real Fake – Fake Real
For my photoshop project I decided to give the land back to the animals. The idea was to have wildlife moving back into urban and private centres. I wanted there to be a contrast between the type of wildlife and their new adopted “habitat “. To do this I placed exotic animals in our everyday ordinary environments. Remember to consider that these environments were originally void of all human contact and development.
Hmm…is Ecological Perspectives rubbing off on me?

The first piece I experimented with. I changed the backdrop colour to green because subway stations are so stale and hard. They are places void of all plant life so I thought I’d add a bit of greenery to bring it back to the zebra’s natural food source, grass. Why a subways station? They are very enclosed in contrast to the open savannas of Africa.
Hardest part was making the zebra appear green because of the green lighting.

I walked by my neighbor’s yard and noticed that she had a garden full of gnomes, plastic swan planters and plastic flamingoes. I thought it would be a neat idea to put real flamingoes mingling with their plastic counterparts. I seem to notice them everywhere now!
Hardest part was getting the right saturation and matching the different shades of pink. Still not quite there, but I’m satisfied…for now.

Based on the idea of Crocodiles living in the sewers of the city because they were flushed down the toilet when they were babies. Well, they are back and they are taking over the bathroom…and think of those poor goldfish you flushed down tiolet!
Shame.
This one has the most layers in it…7 I think. It was fun and difficult to create the right look for because I wanted the bathroom to look like it was submerged under water. I added some bubbles and light reflections on the bottom. I think it can go a tad darker though.
Let me know what you think.
Paper Head Gear + Mask Project for Design.
So we had to build masks from bristol board for our 2nd project.
Here is what I came up with. It’s some sort of fish/lizard and bird monster. I feel like I should be do a dance on a parade float when I put it on. It will probably end up on my wall on not on my head.
Tear sheets with sketches and photos…

Let me know what you think.
Looking for Stripes!
Hey everyone.
I need some help with my photoshop project. I need to take a photo of a street with white stripes! You know the ones I’m talking about? The cross walk stripes.
Example…

To save myself hours of needless wondering downtown I was wondering if anyone knows of any places with what I’m looking for.
Thanks!
Paper Sandals Tear Sheet.

So it turns out the integrated design course is another ID course. I thought it was suppose to be a combo of COMD + ID. Seems like we will be mostly focusing on building things. Hopefully the other projects will be more balanced.
They asked the class to make a pair of sandals out of bristol paper and white glue. It must survive a walk across the room. We also had to create a tear sheet for it with process sketches and a small writeup.
The whole class was spent critiquing the models. We didn’t even look at the tear sheets. Bit frustrating since I spent a nice chunk of time on the 2d portion.
Thought I’d at least share it with you.
Btw, they are suppose to be beach sandals.
Wow…the colours are really messed up. Much more saturated than the original.
Hopefully Suzi can tell me why.
